Adam Baratz, of Ars Technica has posted a review of DesktopX 3.1. http://arstechnica.com/reviews/apps/desktopx.ars

While it's perhaps not the most flattering review, it does mention the great potential of DesktopX.

Some of the issues he noted were some of the same things that have kept me from utilizing DX to a greater degree.

Brad has stated that DX, while having much more power and configurability, has been Konfabulator's "Whipping boy" Maybe these are some of the reasons why.

Substantial memory overhead for each widget

It's things like this that seem unfair - nothing in the review to substantiate this or give comparisons to other similar programs, just the statement, and people read it and take it as fact.

A DesktopX widget uses around 2 or 3 megs of memory.  Far less than a stand alone program typically does.
